Who is Andrew Marr?

Andrew Marr was born on 31 July 1959 in Glasgow, Scotland as Andrew William Stevenson Marr. Marr holds British nationality and belongs to white ethnicity. His father is a Donald Marr, an investment trust manager, and his mother is Valerie Marr. 

As far as education is concerned, Marr studied at Craigflower Preparatory School in Scotland, Dundee's autonomous high school and at Loretto School. He then joined an independent school in Musselburgh, East Lothian, where he was a Pinkie House member as well as a prefect. 

He went to read English at Trinity Hall, Cambridge, graduating with a first class honours degree. Popular journalist Andrew Neil and Andrew Marr doesn't just share first name but also same professional life. 

Formerly he was affiliated with Maoist, he was a member of the Socialist Campaign for a Labor Victory, an offshoot of the International Communist League. He submitted a post-war British political history on BBC Two in 2007, the History of Modern Britain by Andrew Marr, followed by a prequel in 2009, The Making of Modern Britain by Andrew Marr, concentrating on the era from 1901 to 1945.

Primrose Hill, north London, resident Marr married the political journalist Jackie Ashley. The couple tied a knot in August 1987 in Surrey. His spouse, Ashley is also a daughter of the Labour life peer, Lord Ashley of Stoke (1922–2012).
