Heida Reed was born on 22 May 1988 in Reykjavík, Iceland as Heiða Rún Sigurðardóttir. Her mother is a dental hygienist and her father is a music teacher. She has two siblings, an elder brother and one younger sister. 

Growing up in Breiðholt, Reykjavik, she attended the Ölduselsskóli School.  At the age of 20, she moved to London, England where she completes her graduation from the Drama Centre London in 2010. Further, she holds Icelandic citizenship and is of white ethnicity.
