Soffer dated his Chicago P.D co-star, Sophia Bush, who played a counterpart to Soffer's character for a while. The couple had been secretly dating while getting away on the "super close castmates" claim. As per sources, their real-life relationship gradually mirrored their reel life, and in 2014, the two started dating.
The co-stars-turned-lovers parted ways in 2015 after the media got a whiff of their romance, tainting their genuine connection somehow. The twosome rekindled their romance after a while but when Bush left the show in 2017, things seemingly ended for good. "It's always sad when a cast member leaves a show. We're a huge family, and she's a huge part of making the show what it was," Soffer said upon Bush's exit.

In 2018, Soffer was linked with actress Torrey DeVitto, who stars in Chicago Med as Dr. Natalie Manning.
