Nikki Bella is married to Artem Chigvintsev: The couple are doting parents to one!
Nikki Bella is letting the cats out of the bag as she gets candid about her life as a wife and mom. The retired professional wrestler, who famously wrestled in the duo, The Bella Twins, alongside her twin sister, Brie, has been married since 2022. Despite her ceased career as a fan-favorite wrestler, Bella thrives on her other title as a television personality and influencer.
Born Stephanie Nicole Garcia on November 21, 1983, in San Diego, California, Nikki's journey to become a star started with an appearance on reality television. She and Brie signed with WWE in 2007 and raked in some esteemed honors in years to come. The twin sisters' joint venture also includes their reality series, Total Bellas, and Total Divas.
Inside Nikki Bella and Artem Chigvintsev's Conjugal Life
The former WWE wrestler is married to the love of her life, Artem Chigvintsev, who was her dancing partner in Season 25 of Dancing with the Stars. Nikki and Chigvintsev shared some sizzling moves on the ABC show. And despite being sent home on the seventh night of the competition, the show only worked in their favor.
The wrestler and dancer pair sparked dating rumors in late 2018 as they enjoyed a couple of reunions after the show. Even with several insiders giving the duo's rumored romance a green light, Bella kept a coy attitude. The WWE alum even went on record to say that she and Artem were just "having fun."
"I don't want to say playing the field, but just kind of having different experiences." It didn't things to turn serious and by May 2019, Nikki and Artem were Instagram-official. The loved-up pair got engaged in late 2019 as Chigvintsev got down on his knees during their romantic trip to France.
"Excited for 2020 and the next decade with you @theartemc. I said yes in France in November," wrote the Total Bellas star alongside some gushy snippets of their proposal. But before the couple could step into the world as a married duo, they were blessed with parenthood.
Nikki announced her first pregnancy in January 2020 and gave birth to their son, Matteo Artemovich, in July 2020. The Dancing with the Stars couple has been weathering some bumps along the way, including Nikki's struggle with postpartum depression, which seemingly took a toll on their relationship.
The couple even tried counseling after they quietly separated for a brief time. In her podcast, The Bellas Podcast, the WWE alum reveals that she and Artem are "stronger than ever" after undergoing a severe rough patch. "It's been hard on me too not to have my man in my bed for over six, seven weeks," Nikki explained.
Over the years, the long-engaged couple had to postpone their wedding for various reasons. The pandemic stood in their way initially and later it was Artem's health crisis as he suffered from pneumonia. The twosome finally had their dream wedding in August 2022, in Paris. Bella revealed that the exclusive clips of the wedding will be televised on Nikki Bella Says I Do.
Bella shares how she has been "exhausted for three years."
The enviable couple has since kept their marriage accessible to fans, sharing both good and bad parts, and navigating through them as a team. Just recently, the Total Divas star gave an insight into her motherhood journey as she revealed her son's speech delay. "I'm not gonna lie, has rocked me a lot. I feel like I've been exhausted for almost three years," Nikki shared.
Inside Nikki Bella's High-Profile Relationship with John Cena!
With her then-flourishing wrestling career and television stints, Bella seemingly had very little time for men. Before Chigvintsev, the only man she ever publicly dated was wrestler-turned-actor John Cena. The pair were one of the hottest WWE couples for many years.
Bella and John were friends for many years and things only turned romantic in 2012. Much of their romance was showcased in Nikki's reality series, Total Bellas, and Total Divas, which showed Nikki and Cena going through different phases of their lives. While Bella was ready to commit and start a family with her fellow WWE wrestler, Cena was adamant about taking it slow.
After a brief rough patch, the Trainwreck actor iconically got down on his knees at a Wrestle Mania match in April 2017. "Stephanie Nicole Garcia-Colace, will you marry me," John asked. The pair still came off as an imperfect couple as the reality series showed the two struggling to keep the spark.
After much dragged drama and public scrutiny, the duo called it quit in early 2018- only to patch things up a month later. But no public pledge, therapy, and pledges helped the couple. Nikki and Cena were done for good in July 2018.
"After much time and soul-searching alone, and together, we have decided to officially part ways," Nikki said in her statement. Nikki's famous ex, Cena, 46, has since been married to Shay Shariatzadeh, a Canadian engineer.
