Aarti Mann was born on 3rd March 1978 in Connecticut, the United States as Aarti Majumdar. Her mother, Vasanti Majumdar, who is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, works as a Gynaecologist and Obstetrician. Her father was also a physician who died when she was in high school.

Majumdar has two siblings, an older sister, Kruti Majumdar, a filmmaker and a younger brother Nishad Majumdar, a journalist. Besides that, she attended the Shady Side Academy in Point Breeze. Later she graduated from New York University holding a degree in film writing and directing.
