Fans around the world are mourning the death of actor Matthew Perry, who was best known for playing the sarcastic Chandler Bing in the 90s sitcom, Friends. Sources have so far reported that the beloved actor was found unresponsive at his LA home on 28th October.  

Born on August 19, 1969, in Williamstown, Massachusetts, Perry spent a significant portion of his childhood in Canada with his Canadian mother and later moved to LA with his father, actor John Bennett Perry. Perry's untimely death comes just two months after he celebrated his 54th birthday. Authorities have concluded that there were no signs of foul play or intoxication in Perry's demise but fans are still awaiting the answer. The Canadian-American actor was reportedly found dead in a jacuzzi.   

Tributes for Perry are pouring in from all around the world, including from his former cast and crew members. "I'm heartbroken about the untimely death of my "son," wrote Morgan Fairchild, who played Perry's mom on the legendary sitcom. Matthew's on-off love interest on the show, Maggie Wheeler, also shared her grief over the news.  

"The world will miss you Matthew Perry," Wheeler wrote, adding, "I feel so blessed by every creative moment we shared. Perry will forever be remembered as the first friend to bid his forever goodbye, as for the other five, Jennifer Aniston, Matt LeBlanc, David Schwimmer, Courtney Cox, and Lisa Kudrow, they are yet to comment on the tragedy.    

Perry hadn't taken on any onscreen projects in recent years. The late actor's last appearance was in Friends: The Reunion, in 2021. Last year, Perry released his memoir, Friends, Lovers and the Big Terrible Thing: A Memoir, which took readers on an emotional journey as it unveiled Matthew's experience in the dark side of fame.  

Throughout his illustrious career, Perry fought a hard battle with substance abuse and was on and off of rehab programs. The Emmy-nominated actor later dedicated his energy to helping others and even turned his Malibu mansion, Perry House, into a rehab center.

"Hi, my name is Matthew, although you may know me by another name. My friends call me Matty. And I should be dead," the actor wrote in the opening of his memoir. Perry had a notable number of relationships over the years but never once did the actor jump into a hasty nuptial or fathered a child.  

He is survived by his mother, Suzanne Langford, and his father, John Perry, with whom he had a sweet reunion a week ago. The actor shared the moment on Instagram with his 8.6 million followers. "Here is me, and my father John, both holding a beverage," Matthew wrote alongside a snap.

Matthew's prolonged grapple with addictions cost him many things, including his career, which was stunted mid-way, and love- the late actor details how he lost many promising relationships to his disease in his memoir. During his heyday as a Friends star, Perry had many high-profile relationships and a few flings.   

Perry's sweetest chemistry with Courtney Cox, who played Monica Geller on Friends, both on and off screen, had fans shipping the duo during the entire airing of the sitcom, and for years after its wrap. However, the six Friends cast members revealed how they all agreed to romance clauses while they were working together.  

While Perry's love interest, Cox, went on to marry and divorce David Arquette, Perry never got to walk down the aisle. Matthew's first notable relationship was with actress Julia Roberts, who made a famous appearance on the NBC sitcom. As per sources, it was around the same time that the pair started dating.   

Perry and Roberts' romance fizzled out within a year. In 1996, the Emmy-nominated actor had a short-lived romance with Baywatch actress Yasmeen Bleeth, who was Bing's crush on Friends. Perry would next date his Three to Tango co-star, Neve Campbell, followed by more brief romances with Maeve Quinlan, Lauren Graham, and more.  

Perry's first serious relationship was with volleyball player Rachel Dunn, whom he started dating in 2003. Although the actor rarely talked about his former girlfriends, Perry gushed about Dunn numerous times. "With Rachel in my life, I know that I can be very committed and not some selfish guy who just wants to hang out with friends," Perry said.   

Following his breakup with Dunn in 2005, Perry had the longest relationship of his dating career with Lizzy Caplan, best known for starring in Mean Girls. The late actor refrained from sparking another dating headline for years before announcing his budding romance with literary manager Molly Hurwitz in 2018. The pair got engaged in November 2020-only to call it off in 2021.
