The prolific artist Kimmel was born to Martin Kimmel, the developer, an American immobilizer, and a philanthropist, and Claudia Aronow, a New York artist. Unfortunately, his parents got separated later, and his dad married for the third time with Helen Lyttle. 

Before Adam was born, his father was already married to an American actress and singer, Gloria DeHaven. Similarly, Adam has several step-siblings, Betsy Karel, Abby Leigh, and Alexei Hay, from his father's previous relationships. There is no evidence that he is related to the late-night host, Jimmy Kimmel.

Married to Leelee Sobieski

Adam Kimmel is happily married to an American artist and retired actress, Leelee Sobieski. The couple first met at a Purple Magazine dinner in New York. A few months later, on May 28, 2009, the pair got engaged. Later in 2010 tied the knot.

Kimmel and his wife are proud parents of two children. The pair welcomed their first child, a daughter Louisanna Ray Kimmel on 16th December 2009 before their wedding. The couple had their second child, a baby boy, Martin Kimmel Jr., in August 2014.

Before marrying Kimmel, Leelee was in a marital relationship with Matthew Davis in 2008. However, they divorced citing irreconcilable differences in 2009. In an interview with VICE, the actress said that she didn't want to dwell on her past life, and instead, she's focusing on her career and living happily with her family now.

Became Hot-Shot Designer in a Young Age

Growing up, Adam Kimmel was never satisfied with designs that were available on the market. Hence when he was a student at the New York University (NYU), he started designing clothes for himself. Much to his surprise, his friends loved his clothes and often asked for them. Hence after graduation, though he studied architecture and art history, he decided to become a fashion designer.

It is a testament to Kimmel's talents that despite not having extensive formal training in designing, his clothes were soon bought by influential stores such as Colette.

After Colette, the 24-year-old's lookbook was purchased by Bergdorf Goodman, and later the young designer collaborated with Supreme and Carhartt. With critical and commercial success, It seemed like the New York native will be the next big name in the men's fashion industry.

However, much to people's surprise, Kimmel canceled his spring/summer 2013 show and announced that he is taking a year off. So, what prompted Kimmel to take such a big decision at the height of his successful career?

Well, first,  he wanted to spend quality time with his young family. Secondly, his brand was growing too big, and he was overwhelmed with it and thought there was no space to grow and experiment.

Currently Associated With WeWork

In 2018, Adam Kimmel came out of the hiatus and joined the company WeWork as Chief Creative Officer. 

The designer, however, as of now, has not shown any interest in working back as a designer. In a recent interview he stated:

“I live in the moment. At the time I was doing it, I really wanted to get it out there and have an impact. Now that I’m not, that’s not important to me.”
