The London native has released a new track after taking a long hiatus.
After much anticipation, Adele has finally dropped a single titled Easy on Me. The song is the English musician's first in almost six years.
Last week, she teased the song alongside announcing her upcoming studio album, 30. The 21 hitmaker has revealed that her track and her album are about the struggle and pain she experienced after her divorce from her former husband Simon Konecki, which she stated in an Instagram post earlier was "the most turbulent period" of her life.
Konecki is a CEO of a charity CEO whom Adele married in 2017 until their separation in 2019. The duo officially divorced in 2021.
The mother of one told her recent work "was bloody hard work to make." In an interview with BBC Radio, the Grammy award-winning singer said:
"I was singing things I didn't even realise I was feeling or thinking," she said, adding that it was important for her to share those emotions with the world."
The Skyfall singer further added:
"I feel like I can't unlock a door for my own mental health and take the key with me. I've got to leave it in the door for everyone else - and I'm in a strong place now where I feel like I can put that vulnerability out.
In the eight hours since its premiere, Easy On Me has racked in almost 14 million views on the 33-year-old's YouTube channel.
Numerous of her singer colleagues such as Lil Nas, Drake, Normani, and celebrities like Alicia Silverstone, Marc Maron, Alex Goldschmidt, and others complimented her new work.
