Andrea Bocelli is married to his second wife, Veronica Berti: Complete story here!
Andrea Bocelli's journey in the classical music world is truly commendable. The Italian tenor, 64, known for being born visually impaired, has achieved feats that even people with no disabilities, and of privileged backgrounds find hard to accomplish. Through his three-decade-long perseverance, hard work, and talent, Bocelli has risen to become a household name around the world.
Born on September 22, 1958, in Lajatico, Italy, Bocelli's compromised vision at birth because of congenital glaucoma didn't stop him from pursuing his penchant for music. By age 12, Andrea had lost his vision completely. Bocelli's career took off with his first album, Il Mare Calmo della Sera, in the 90s.
Who is Andrea Bocelli's Wife?
Fans got a good insight into Andrea's personal life when The Journey: A Music Special from Andrea Bocelli hit the theatre earlier this year. The special musical showed Bocelli and his wife, Veronica Berti, exploring the breathtaking landscapes of their native Italian countryside.
The tenor and his wife of nine years, Berti, are one of the most thriving couples in the industry. And like most successful married couples, the pair have their own secret to a happy conjugal life. "Sometimes we don't necessarily agree on the path, but we always agree on the aim. We rely on each other," said Bocelli's wife.
In the eyes of the world, Andrea and Berti have been married since March 2014, but according to the couple, their long-lasting partnership began almost immediately after they met, which was nearly 22 years ago. Berti, who is 25 years younger than her husband, recalls meeting the tenor at a party in 2002.
In an interesting turn of events, after Bocelli performed a piece, Occhi Di Fata, to woo the 18-year-old Veronica, the pair moved in together the same night. And what seemed like an impulsive step on the duo's part actually transpired into a committed relationship as they dated smoothly for 12 years. The tenor married his young wife on March 21, 2014.
Bocelli and Veronica never cared for their big age difference, in fact, according to the tenor, it only amplified their bond. "Big age gaps are a tradition in my family," Andrea once explained, adding, "Plus, I am very religious, and the age difference is something you see a lot in biblical marriages."
Although better known as the wife of the world-renowned classical singer, Berti was an aspiring actress before she took on the coveted role. She is also the mother of Bocelli's one out of three children and has joined forces with her husband on many occasions, including the time when the couple raised money for Covid relief during the pandemic.
Get to Know Andrea Bocelli's Three Kids!
The world-famous visually impaired singer has only ever been with two women, and both of them are mothers to his three kids. Not much is known about Bocelli's first marriage, perhaps because it started and ended before he reached the pinnacle of his career.
Andrea shares his two eldest sons with his ex-wife, Enrica Cenzatti. The Sacred Arias crooner reportedly met Cenzatti while singing piano bars back when he was an oblivious name. The two walk down the aisle in June 1992 and went on to welcome two sons, Amos Bocelli, 28, and Matteo Bocelli, 25.
Andrea's oldest son's name carries great significance in the tenor's life as he was named after a man named Amos Martellacci, who reportedly mentored him early in his life. Despite inheriting his father's impeccable musical abilities and also foraying into the destined road, by getting his bachelor of arts degree in piano, and performing with Andrea on occasion, Amod ultimately decided to pick a different path.
The world-renowned singer is a doting father of three!
The oldest Bocelli son is currently pursuing a career as an aerospace engineer. Amos has had various high-profile jobs over the years, including his role as a board of directors at his father's Andrea Bocelli Foundation. Andrea's second son, Matteo, is the only kid who has ventured in his father's footsteps.
Matteo has been candid about his musical journey, which started at the early age of 6 when he started playing piano and copying his father. He once shared that he was unsure of his future in the business for a long time and it was David Foster, who encouraged him to follow his dreams.
"He was the person who said to me, 'You have the skill and the technical ability; you should be on the stage singing,'" Matteo shared. Andrea's secondborn has released several singles and has also collaborated with him on the ballad, Fall For Me. Matteo famously performed at Kourtney Kardashian Barker and Travis Barker's Italian wedding ceremony.
Andrea's youngest, Virginia, who he shares with Berti, is only 11 but is already a singer-in-making already. She made her singing debut at 8 and worked with her father, and older brother Matteo in the tenor's album, A Family Christmas, in 2022.
