The former pair's first meeting took place in 1988 at CBS Sports News network. At that time, Beth was a broadcast assistant for NBA finals coverage story whilst Fred was play-by-play announcer to Detroit Pistons.
Furthermore, Fred helped Beth to create an audition tape of the 1988 NBA finals. Eventually, they developed a friendly relationship and became BFFs.
