Watch What Happens Live host Andy Cohen announces he has Coronavirus, as pandemic continues to rattle global healthcare infrastructure and economies.
The news came after the host went into self-quarantine following a decision by most of Hollywood and the broadcast industry to shut down their services to help minimize the spread of COVID-19.
Bravo’s host shot the most recent episode of Watch What Happens Live, on March 12 and shutdown. Cohen planned to host the show using live stream tech from his New York apartment on Sunday, 22 March 2020, but the plans have since been postponed.
In fact, Andy planned to use creative method and use video chats connecting guests remotely and host the show.
Cohen announced his test result with the caption
“After a few days of self-quarantine, and not feeling great, I have tested positive for Coronavirus. As much as I felt like I could push through whatever I was feeling to do #WWHL from home, we’re putting a pin in that for now so I can focus on getting better. I want to thank all the medical professionals who are working tirelessly for all of us, and urge everybody to stay home and take care of themselves.”
The star TV presenter is another name added to the growing list of celebrities tested positive for the virus which includes Sophie Grégoire Trudeau and Debi Mazar. As a matter of fact, Debi Mazar announced she was Coronavirus positive via Instagram.
WHO reports that Italy has the worst death rates and highest number of deaths in the world from the virus partly due to the country having the oldest population in Europe.
Chinese President Xi-Jinping visited Wuhan, the origin of the virus and one of the worst affected areas in the world, in a bid to give assurance to citizens. New cases in China have levelled off.
