Born on September 23, 1949, in Long Beach, New Jersey, Bruce's earliest influence was The Beatles. The then-aspiring singer paid his dues for years before releasing his groundbreaking hit, Born to Run, with his backing band, E Street Band, in 1975. The Truth About Bruce Springsteen's First Marriage!  

Even a man of Bruce Springsteen's caliber has had a tough time in love. During the first leg of his sky-rocketing career, the music icon dated actress Joyce Hyser, photographer Lynn Goldsmith, and model Karen Darv for several years.   

Springsteen married his first wife, actress Julianne Phillips, on May 13, 1985. Bruce and his wife, number uno, exchanged their vows at a Catholic Church in Lake Oswego, Oregon. 

Bruce recalls being immediately attracted to Phillips. Likewise, Springsteen describes his ex-wife as "24, tall, blond, educated, talented, a beautiful and charming young woman," in his memoir Born to Run. 

But the Jungleland crooner knew in his heart that they weren't a great match. For starters, Julianne was eleven years younger than him. And secondly, the two didn't have many things in common. 

In addition to their inharmonious marriage, Bruce's constant touring also strained their relationship. A few songs in the Grammy winner's eighth album, Tunnel of Love, describe his unhappy home life with Phillips.

While still married to Julianne, Bruce Springsteen developed feelings for an old confidant. In his biography, the icon jots how he tried to delude himself by thinking that Julianne was only after his fame and money.

The singer says despite the constant effort to brainwash himself, he knew in his heart that Julianne truly loved him. The pair divorced after four years of marriage in 1989.

Expressing remorse over the failure of his first nuptial, Bruce wrote, "I placed her in a terribly difficult position for a young girl and I failed her as a husband and partner."  

Bruce Springsteen's Second Attempt at Marriage!  

The River hitmaker Bruce Springsteen's second marriage with singer-songwriter Patti Scialfa has been an enduring courtship. Bruce and Patti have been married since 1991, but the pair's history goes back. 

The couple grew up in the same social circles in New Jersey. Interestingly, Patti even did a stint in Spingsteen's E Street Band. 

It is said that before Springsteen delved into his whirlwind relationship and marriage with Julianne, he and Scialfa almost dated. Bruce's unfulfilled longing for Scialfa came alive when they crossed paths again amid Bruce's unhappy marriage with his first wife.

The singer couple started dating at the heels of Springsteen's separation from Julianne, and the two paid the price. Vilely scrutinized by the media for their hasty relationship, Bruce and Patti faced a rough time in public as a couple.

Spingsteen's 19th album, Western Stars, is his tribute to his Scialfa. Bruce confessed Patti pulled him out of the pits of depression. The spouses are doting parents to three children.

Springsteen and Patti's secondborn and only daughter, Jessica Rae Springsteen, was born in December 1991. Jessica is probably the most accomplished of her siblings. A professional equestrian, Jessica won a silver medal in team jumping at the 2020 Summer Olympics. The show jumping champion rider has represented the United States in international games.  

Bruce's youngest, Samuel Ryan, born in January 2005, couldn't be more unique. Instead of following his parents' steps and taking the expected road, Samuel has chosen to be a firefighter. Samuel has given his parents their first grandchild, who he welcomed with his longtime partner.
