Chelsea Handler was born as Chelsea Joy Handler on February 25, 1975, n Livingston, New Jersey. She is among the six children born to Rita Stoecker and her husband, Seymour Handler. Her mother was a homemaker, and her father was a used car dealer. Handler has two sisters and three brothers. She attended Livingston High School in her hometown.
