Daniel Radcliffe Reflects on Fatherhood: Inside the Actor's Personal Life

Danielle Radcliffe loves being a dad: The actor and his girlfriend, Erin Darke, share a 6-month-old son!  

It feels like just yesterday English actor Danielle Radcliffe was waving his magic wand in the epic fantasy Harry Potter film series, and today, he is reflecting on his six-month-old fatherhood journey. Time has surely flown for Danielle fans and the actor himself, who, at 34, is a proud father of one, and in a long-running relationship with Erin Darke.  

Born on July 22, 1989, in London, England, Radcliffe rose to global stardom, playing the titular protagonist in the film series. Though Danielle has shown his versatile acting chops in several stage and onscreen roles, fans will never associate the Brit with any other character than Harry Potter. In fact, it won't be much of a surprise if a legion knows Radcliffe by his long-played alter-ego, rather than his real name.

Radcliffe is in "awe" of his firstborn, whom he and Darke welcomed earlier this year in April. During his recent appearance on Today With Hoda and Jenna, Radcliffe reflected on the blissful journey that fatherhood has been so far. "It's awesome," said the Harry Potter alum. "He's incredible and I'm just, like, in awe," he adds.   

Radcliffe and his partner, actress Erin Darke, 39, intended to keep the joyful news private until it was somehow set loose in March. The notoriously low-key couple confirmed their baby's arrival next month. This isn't the first time The F Word actor has gushed about being a first-time father.  

In a previous interview in July, Radcliffe explained how work has been a second priority since his son's arrival. "I was always going to take some time off, which not everyone is able to do," the Emmy-nominated actor said, adding, "I'm able to kind of just be here with him a lot, which is lovely. I think I'll probably work a little bit less for the next few years."   

Danielle's sweet statement comes not long after the Weird: The Al Yankovic Story actor revealed a secret project he has been concocting for years. Radcliffe announced that he has produced a documentary, The Boy Who Lived, which will tell the story of his Harry Potter stunt double, David Holmes.  

Holmes was left paralyzed for life after he sustained a neck injury in a rehearsal in 2009. The upcoming documentaries will tell the story of Holmes' achievements and plights as a stunt double. It will be available on Sky Documentaries, and Now from 18th November.  

Danielle Radcliffe's Long-Going Romance with Erin Darke! 

Radcliffe and Darke have been going strong for over a decade. Though the pair have kept a reticent attitude over the years, they've said enough to conclude that the two are in for a long haul. The Swiss Army Man actor and Darke met and realized their easy connection on the sets of Kill Your Darlings, in 2012.    

Danielle's girlfriend and the mother of his son, Erin, 39, is an actress. Her notable credits include Love & Mercy, Still Alice, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, and Good Girls Revolt. Daniel and Erin shared an intimate scene in the film and translated the romance into real life.  

It is not known if the two started dating while working together or after wrapping up the shoot, but the rumors first swirled in early 2013. Radcliffe finally made the confirmation of a new romance after months of speculations. The Brit shared that he was indeed dating someone, who he said was exactly his type.   

"My type is intelligent," said the Harry Potter star. The adorable twosome has since taken their time launching their relationship in public. They made their red carpet debut after over a year of dating in 2014, followed by little insights shared spontaneously.  

Radcliffe once explained how his relationship with Darke was nothing like his previous romantic experiences. The Lost City actor credited Darke's fantastic sense of humor and their similar interests for their excellent chemistry. The lovers-turned-parents of one are always connected- even when in a long-distance relationship.   

"There's always an element of long distance with two actors in a relationship," explained Radcliffe, who is often in and out of America. "We always end up traveling a lot. It is what it is. I'm very grateful for Skype and FaceTime," Radcliffe adds. 

The couple's long-going relationship and now with a baby in the picture has often prompted the inevitable question- why aren't the love birds tying the knot? Danielle and Darke are yet to comment on the long-asked topic, but if they were to ever get hitched, the couple would most probably keep it a secret.     

Radcliffe is "in awe" of his newborn! 

"Dating a famous person teaches you very quickly that s–t is weird sometimes," Darke said while talking about her romance with Radcliffe, who is certainly the better-known of the two. She added, "We're at the point now where I've seen my own wedding reported several times."
