Dara Renee

Dara Reneé was born on November 7, 2000, in Los Angeles, California, and raised in Baltimore, Maryland. She hails from a family that was highly artistic and creative, whose mother, actress Kimberly Brooks, began a nonprofit performing arts school called Encouraging Youth To Dream. Dara was introduced early in life by her grandmother, who was a past member of the Baltimore 1960s soul group The Royalettes, who taught her to sing and harmonize. 

She lived during part of her childhood at John Paul Regional Catholic School in Maryland before she moved back to California, completing high school at the Charter High School of the Arts (CHAMPS) in Van Nuys. Her early exposure to performing arts led to her interest in acting, singing, and songwriting.

Dara credits her family, especially her mother, as a primary source of inspiration and support in her career. Her grandmother's musical background shaped her artistic life, while her mother guided her through learning the ins and outs of traversing career milestones.

Acting Career 

Dara began her professional acting career with TV commercials and print advertising as a toddler. Her first major on-screen credit came with Savannah in the 2018 Disney Channel Original Movie Freaky Friday. She also had recurring guest spots on leading TV shows such as ABC's Black-ish and a guest spot on The Kids Are Alright. Dara rose to popularity portraying Kourtney Greene in Disney+'s High School Musical: The Musical: The Series (2019-2023). 

She was initially cast for just one episode but earned a series regular promotion for her captivating performance and also choreographed the show's musical number "Bop to the Top." Interestingly enough, her real-life mother did guest star on the show as Kourtney's mom from season two onwards. She portrayed Uliana, Ursula the Sea Witch's sister, in the Disney film Descendants: The Rise of Red in 2024. Dara was also a guest star on TV movies such as My Stepfather's Secret and Grey's Anatomy.

Musical Talents 

Apart from being an actress, Dara is also a good singer, rapper, and songwriter who has created original content for her films, particularly the High School Musical series.

Hosting and Brand Representation 

Dara further expanded her professional career to host alongside Disney's Magic Bake-Off, a cooking competition series, alongside Issac Ryan Brown. She also hosted ESPN's For The Win.
