Adams was born as Davante Lavell Adams on December 24, 1992, to parents Douglas Adams and Pamela Brown. He has three siblings, one brother, and two sisters. He attended Palo Alto High School and played for the school team and led them to the CIF state championship.

He got recruited by California University, Hawaii, San Diego State, and California State University.
