On July 22, 1993, James R. Jordan was shot dead by Daniel Andre Green and Larry Martin while he was sleeping in the car. The murderer claimed that they were there to steal the red Lexus SC40 car, which was given by his son Michael. 

Later, his body was buried at Rockfish AME Church in Teachey, North Carolina, on August 15, 1993

In 1960, Deloris and James built their own house and gave birth to their second son Larry Jordon. After three years of their third child, Deloris gave birth to Michael Jordon on February 17, 1963, in Brooklyn, New York, USA.

In 1989, Deloris and her son Michael started Michael Jordan Foundation to help disadvantaged children. Later, she started the Michael Jordan Education Club for children to get quality education.
