In 1991, Rene had a heart attack but he survived. However, after some time he was diagnosed with throat cancer. In September 2015, he suddenly came up to the public and announced that he had some months to live. 

After a long battle with throat cancer, Rene rested in a piece in 2016. He was seventy-three at the time of his demise. On January 22, he was buried at Notre Dame des Neiges.

Eddy's Mother Is Suffering From Stiff Person Syndrome

In 2022, Celine announced that she was diagnosed with a rare progressive neurological disorder called Stiff Person Syndrome. Her doctors are still learning about this rare condition so that they can cure her in time.

Celine says it affects her while walking and not allowing her to use her vocal cords. The effect of the SPS didn't let her perform on the stage. So, she postponed her world tour to recover from it.
