Everything to Know About Kevin James's Personal Life: His Wife and Kids

Kevin James is a happily married man: The actor is a doting father to four!  

Known for his roles as Doug Heffernan on CBS's The King of Queens, which garnered him an Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actor, Kevin James is an actor and comedian. His other acclaimed work includes I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry, Zookeeper, Here Comes the Boom, and his eponymous sitcom, Kevin Can Wait.   

Born Kevin George Knipfing on April 26, 1965, in Mineola, New York, he kicked off his comic career as a stand-up comedian in the 80s. By the late 90s, the comedian had already cemented a reputable profile on television, starring alongside Leah Remini, Jerry Stiller, and Victor Williams on The King of Queens, which recently crossed its 25th-year milestone.

James' portrayal of Doug Heffernan and Remini as his wife on Netflix's The King of Queens has been garnering rave reviews since it aired in 1998. If fans acquainted themselves better with James's real life rather than his reel life, the comedian would surely amass the same if not more appreciation. Kevin has been married to Steffiana de la Cruz since 2004.   

James keeps much of his family life away from the spotlight but a handful of interviews and anecdotes are sufficient to call the comedian the epitome of a family man.  The comedian-turned-actor has even gone on record to say that his personal life precedes his career in the hierarchy and that he plans his work around his family life rather than the other way around.  

James and Cruz's lasting marriage is proof that a relationship can start and blossom anyhow if the people in question are meant for each other. The Kevin Can Wait star met Steffiana on a blind date in 2001 and saw through each other in an instant. Their relationship progressed with the two moving in together within months, getting engaged in 2003, and walking down the aisle eventually.   

James and his bride exchanged their vows on June 19, 2004, at St. Edward Catholic Church in Dana Point, California. The pair have since welcomed four kids. Fans rarely witness the Emmy-nominated comedian put his family in the limelight but James's rare tributes and remarks are enough to reaffirm his love for Steffiana.  

"16 years ago today! You're all I need and the kids, and Friday night pizza, and Sunday pasta, but that's it, you, the kids, pizza, pasta. Love you," the Kevin Can Wait actor wrote on the occasion of their 16th anniversary. The twosome hit their 19 years together earlier this year in June and are still going strong.   

James's gorgeous Filipino wife, Steffiana, an actress, and model, is as low-profile as one can get. She appeared in movies like Pacific Blue, Die Gang, and Stealing Harvard before marrying her comedian husband. Although the pair haven't collaborated on any big projects, Steffiana has made several cameos in Kevin's films, and shows, including Zookeeper, and Kevin Can Wait.

While James navigates his stellar and busy professional life, the actor admits his loving wife has developed better parenting skills than him. "My wife is so good at it because she wants to be there," James once said on a rare occasion. He added, "By the way, when she gets there, they feel comfortable."   

Steffiana's superior parenting skill doesn't mean that Kevin is any bad at it. The comedian has time and again gushed about being a fully invested father. "I just love being a dad and spending time with my wife and kids," the Kevin Can Wait star said. James's bundle of joy consists of the couple's three daughters and one son.  

James' oldest, Sienna-Marie James, 17, is actively following in her parents' footsteps. Although Sienna still has a long way to go in her acting journey, he has already cemented a decent profile. Her credits so far are mostly in her father's projects, including Pixels, Hubie Halloween, and Kevin Can Wait.   

Kevin and Steffiana's second of the brood, daughter Shea Joelle James, 16, named after a stadium in New York, has very different interests than her sister. As per the comedian, her second daughter is into drawing and animation. Kevin's third kid, Kannon, 12, also shares some of Shea's interests.  

"They're into animation and drawing. They don't want to be in front of the camera, which I'm happy about, but they want to get behind it," the doting father once said about his kids. The comedian's youngest, Sistine Sabella James, 8, is so far the least known of his brood.     

Kevin loves being a dad! 

Kevin reflected on his work and his purpose ahead of the arrival of his youngest one. "I want to do movies that I'm proud of where my kids, at some point, can see and I can feel comfortable sitting there watching it with them," the comedian said.
