Laura Dern has been married once: The Oscar winner shares two children with her ex-husband, Ben Harper!  

Known for her Academy-winning role in the 2019 drama film, Marriage Story, Laura Dern is an actress with a host of other esteemed accolades. In her 40+ years in Hollywood, Dern has starred in at least 63 movies and has carved an equally successful profile on the small screen.  

Born on February 10, 1967, in Los Angeles, California, to reputed actors Diane Ladd, and Bruce Dern, there's no sliver of doubt that Laura got her impeccable performing talent from her parents. Some of her most notable credits are Mask, Jurassic Park, Wild, and Rambling Rose.

There are celebrities hopping from one marriage to another and then there's Laura Dern, who has walked down the aisle only once. The Oscar winner hasn't completely steered away from the dating pool but Dern has definitely kept her love life wrapped.   

The Marriage Story actress had already dated several well-known stars when she crossed paths with Ben Harper in 2000. The couple's chance meeting at the concert resulted in the duo dating shortly. Dern and Harper enjoyed five years of dating bliss before eventually getting hitched in December 2000.  

In addition to Harper's two kids from his previous nuptials with Joanna, Dern, and Harper welcomed two kids of their own. The actor and musician duo kept their conjugal life away from the spotlight, giving the impression of blissful family life.   

The pair's seemingly smooth marriage showed signs of flaws when Harper filed for divorce, citing "irreconcilable differences" in October 2010. The Little Women actress was reportedly blind-sighted by her husband's divorce filing. The duo reconciled one time after the filing and made a few red-carpet appearances before pulling the plug on their marriage for good.  

The pair's divorce was finalized in 2013 after eight years of marriage. Both Laura and Harper have refrained from commenting on their marriage and what transpired during the period, but the Oscar winner has asserted that she and Ben had an amicable split.   

The long-estranged couple recently reunited to attend their daughter's high school graduation. Dern's ex-husband, Ben, 53, is a Grammy-winning singer-songwriter. Following his divorce from Dern, Harper married his third wife, social advocate Jaclyn Matfus, in January 2015. The couple shares one kid, making Harper a dad to five.   

The Oscar-winning actress continues to be as reticent as ever- especially about her love life. Much recently, Dern was linked with NBA player Baron Davis. The actress's ambiguous romantic history also includes Nicholas Cage and rapper Common. She famously dated Billy Bob Thornton and Kyle MacLachlan.  

Who are Laura Dern's Two Kids?  

The Oscar-winning actress is a doting and proud mother of two, son Ellery Walker Harper, 22, and daughter Jaya Harper, 18, both of whom she shares with her ex-husband. While Harper has been pretty much invested in his kids from his other two marriages, Laura gave it her all in raising Ellery, and Jaya.

The Big Little Lies star rarely talks about her children but motherhood is an exception. "On the hard days, it's stressful and there is too much going on as a single parent," the actress said in an interview. Laura says that while she tries to conceal her mistakes in other departments of her life, being a parent is where she keeps it completely transparent. 

"The more I learn about my mistakes as a mother, the deeper I enjoy how fully I love my children," Laura shared. She added, "Because I can let them know I really screw up sometimes." The responsibilities on Laura's shoulders have definitely simmered down as her kids have reached their adult age.  

Dern and Ben's son, Ellery, is an artistic kid. His future in the showbiz is still in the making but Ellery has already taken his initial steps. He modeled for Calvin Klein in 2018, graced the cover of ODDA, in 2021, and has even dabbled in photography.   

The Emmy-winning actress's youngest kid, Jaya, has reportedly shown a penchant for acting and might follow in her mother's footsteps now that she has graduated from high school. Jaya has already displayed her acting chops in Teenage Emotions. Jaya is also an outspoken advocate.  

The teenager accompanied her mother at the 2019 Golden Globes and left a strong impression. While Laura made a big gesture, wearing a Time's Up ribbon to back the #metoo movement, Jaya voiced her feelings. "I want my generation to not have to say, 'Me too'". said, Jaya.
