Gemma Beason is the daughter of Catherine Bell, an American actress, notable for her portrayal of Lieutenant Colonel Sarah MacKenzie in the legal drama show, JAG. Bell also won a Saturn Award for her performance in the sci-fi miniseries, The Triangle.

Beason's mom, Catherine, made her first appearance in the television sitcom, True Colors in 1991. Later, she starred as Kay Meadows in the adult-themed comedy series, Dream On in 1994.
