Harrison Ford is considered a cultural icon and rightly so. The actor started early in the entertainment business but only received his due recognition after years of knocking around. Ford's longstanding career has spawned movies for every generation and the actor continues to hold a special place in fans' hearts. His recent credits include Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, Captain America: Brave New World, and 1923.  

Born on July 13, 1942, in Chicago, Illinois, Ford was a jobbing actor for nearly a decade before he rose to global recognition. He even took up a career in carpentry to support his family and slowly emerged as the most sought-after leading actor. Ford landed his big breakthrough in the 1977 epic blockbuster, Star Wars, in which he played one of his most-loved roles as Han Solo.

Ford has seemingly always been awarded late in his life, be it in his career endeavor or his personal life. The Academy-nominated actor had to wait a decade as a vaguely noticed star before he made a notable name in the industry, and the same goes for his off-screen life. Ford navigated two failed marriages and only got it right at the third trial.   

Much like his contemporaries, the Witness actor embarked on conjugal life pretty early, as in around the same time he forayed into his acting career. Ford and his first wife, Mary Marquardt, were married from 1964 to 1979. Ford and Mary reportedly met while attending Ripon College in Wisconsin.  

The pair's marriage might not have lasted for a lifetime but Marquardt was Ford's partner in time. During their 15-year-long nuptial, Ford and Marquardt welcomed two sons, and as Harrison juggled between acting and carpentry, Marquardt, like a dutiful wife, remained low-profile while supporting her husband.   

The pair quietly parted ways in 1979 and the possible driving factor behind their divorce was unveiled decades later. Ford's late Star Wars co-star, Carrie Fisher, shocked the nation when she revealed her tightly wrapped-affair with Ford when he was married to Marquardt.  

"It was so intense — it was Han and Leia during the week, and Carrie and Harrison during the weekend," Fisher said after making the big revelation in her memoir, The Princess Diarist. The Indiana Jones star married his second wife, late screenwriter and activist Melissa Mathison, in 1983. The couple met on the sets of Apocalypse Now, in 1976 and started dating years later in 1982.   

The duo welcomed two kids during their nearly two-decade-long marriage. Harrison and Mathison officially separated in 2000 and what followed was a contentious legal battle until their divorce in 2004. Ford's second failed marriage was linked to the actor's mid-life crisis, with sources claiming that the Star Wars fame was romancing a young woman named Lara Flynn Boyle.

Harrison might have faced a tough luck in his love life for a long time but even through the failed marriages, and a few untasteful affairs, the Academy-nominated actor landed himself a partner for a lifetime. Ford has been married to his third wife, Calista Flockhart, who is over two decades his junior, since 2010.   

Ford was embroiled in a divorce process with his second wife when he met Flockhart at the 2002's Golden Globe Awards. The duo started dating while Ford navigated his divorce from Melissa. The Star Wars actor and Calista enjoyed years of dating bliss and in 2009, the Hollywood hearthrob finally popped the most awaited question.  

The twosome walked down the aisle on June 15, 2010, at the Governor's Mansion in Santa Fe, New Mexico. The couple has since kept things under the radar and stood strong through some scares, including the time when Ford crashed his vintage plane in March 2015. Though the long-married spouses are known to be notoriously low-key, they are a recurring red-carpet couple.

The couple's recent appearance was at Ford's Indiana Jones And The Dial Of Destiny premiere in Taormina, Italy. Ford is undoubtedly the better known of the couple, but Flockhart herself is a star in her own right. She is best known for starring in the television series Ally McBeal, which won her three Emmy nominations, Brothers and Sisters, The Birdcage, and more.

Ford has fathered five kids across his three marriages. His oldest two are Benjamin Ford, 57, and Willard Ford, born to him and his first wife. Both of his oldest sons have followed in a career outside of showbiz. While Benjamin has emerged to become a succesful chef like his mother, Willard, on the other hand, has carved a career in entrepreneurship.    

Ford welcomed his third and fourth of the brood, Malcolm, 36, and Georgia, 33, with his second wife. Both Malcolm and Georgia are actively working in the entertainment industry. Malcolm, as a musician, and Georgia, as an actress. Harrison, being a private man, seldom speaks about his kids. But the actor once reflected on being a lousy father to his older kids. 

"If I'd been less successful, I'd probably be a better parent," Harrison said, adding, "Certainly the more constant gardener is the better parent." The Indiana Jones star shares his youngest son, Liam, 22, with Flockhart. Liam is not a biological kid of Ford and Flockhart. Flockhart had adopted Liam before she stared dating Ford, who later adopted him.
