    Herman Edwards Jr. is a famous football coach from America. He is an ex-football player. Edwards currently serves at Arizona State Univeristy as the head coach.

    Herman was born on 27th April 1954 in Fort Monmouth, New Jersey, America, where another coach Michael Pettaway Tomlin was also born. Born to his father, Herman Edwards Sr. and mother Martha, he is of White ethnicity and holds American nationality. Herman's father was an African American World War II veteran.

    The head coach and former player from Arizona University are living a happy married life. Edwards Jr. exchanged his wedding vows with Lisa Edwards in 2000. The couple dated for a long time before getting married. The pair is blessed with two children.

    Football Career

    The famous coach kicked off his career as a football player in the NFL. In 1977, he joined Philadelphia Eagles and played for nine seasons. During the time, the Philadelphia Eagles also won the championship title in Super Bowl XV.

    Edwards played nine seasons without missing a single game. However, in 1986, Herm joined Atlanta Falcons and Los Angeles Rams for a short period before retiring.

    Philadelphia had many victories when Edwards was on their team. One of their most significant successes against Meadowlands was also known as The Miracle at the Meadowlands. This formation had a alternate name, ''Herman Edwards play.''

    From Player To Coach

    Soon after retiring, Herm began serving at the San Jose State as a defensive assistant. Later, he worked for Kansas City as defensive backs and NFL Scouts.

    From 1996 to 2000, Edwards collaborated with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as defensive back and assistant. 

    As a Head Coach Of New York Jets

    On 28th January 2001, Herm was appointed as the head coach of the New York Jets. Herm managed to sum up a good record in his five years of coaching at the New York Jets

    Herm made 39-41 record, which includes playoffs of 2-3 record and 5-15 stretch during his final twenty regular-season games. In 2002, the New York Jets jumped into the playoffs with a fantastic record of 9-7, following their victory against the Miami Dolphins and New England Patriots

    Controversial Departure

    After the 2005 season, Carl Peterson (Chiefs president) dropped a small hint to press about Herm's exit from the Jets.

    During the time, Edwards had two years contract left, but the New York Jets allowed Chiefs to talk with the head coach to hire him.

    Carl wanted Herm to serve as a personal acquaintance for a long time to be like former retired coach Dick Vermeil. Rumors spread everywhere, and the two teams started a war of words via media. 

    To sort out the fight, Herm said to extend his contract with the Jets with an increase in pay, which made the owner angrier. In the end, two teams did a meeting and came up with a deal as Peterson sent the New York Jets a fourth-round pick. 

    Arizona State

    On December 3rd, 2017, Herm was announced as the head coach of the football team named Arizona State. Edwards made his first victory with the club on 1st September 2018 during the match against UTSA. 

    On 8th September 2018, Herm gained his first victory against a ranked opponent Michigan State Spartans (15th-ranked).
