Holland Roden was born on the 7th of October 1986, in Dallas, Texas, the United States to American parents as Holland Marie Roden. She has three siblings, one sister Taylor Roden and two brothers Scott Roden and Ryan Ryan Roden.

Roden attended the all-girls private school Hockaday School in Dallas, Texas. Then she graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) with a major in molecular biology and women's studies. 

So before starting her acting career, she studied pre-medical education to be a cardiothoracic surgeon for three and a half years.
