Near-Death Experience
The 6-feet-3-inch (191 cm) tall James suffered a severe heart attack in November 2019. He revealed the news of it, posting a picture of him recovering from his surgery. As per his Instagram post, he first started getting weird pain in his shoulders and neck. Later, the pain spread to his jaw and right arm.
Afterward, he drove himself to the Emergency Room (ER), where the doctor told him that had been having a heart attack for the past 12 hours. Sharing the experience, James said,
"Within a few hours, I was in the angio lab, and they were running a tube from my right wrist through an artery heart. The doctors were able to clear one artery and added a stint to keep it open. The other artery was rock hard, but my body had grown collateral vessels to feed itself so it’s now getting sufficient blood flow."
Pumphrey further said that he had really bad genetics when it comes to his heart because his father died due to the same diseases, and his sister, Mary, also faced a similar experience when she turned 30. After the successful operation, James is taking this as a second chance to turn it all around. He also thanked all doctors, nurses, and technologists at UCLA medical center for saving his life.
