You can't be all lucky in life. More often than not, one is blessed in either one department of life, but actress Kyla Pratt's is a rare story. The actress, who became a household face in the 90s, playing Eddie Murphy's daughter in the Dr. Dolittle franchise, boasts one of the most successful personal lives.
Pratt's other notable credits include The Proud Family, One on One, Fat Albert, Hotel for Dogs, and Call Me Kat. Though, not much of an ostensibly famous Disney alum, Kyla has recently appeared in projects like The Addams Family 2, Fantasy Island, The Wheel, and The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder.
Kyla Pratt is Technically Married!
Pratt's enduring stardom and her just as thriving relationship with Danny Kirkpatrick are what makes her a well-rounded Hollywood figure. The pair started dating in 2005 after much dating rumors and are still going strong. The long-standing, couple, however, aren't married in papers.
Although there isn’t much known about Pratt’s love story with Danny, the actress once shared that they didn’t have a romantic start like it usually starts, but as they navigated the journey of life, her beau gradually tuned in the romance. The Dolittle actress received a portrait of herself as Rose in Titanic, which she calls her favorite gift from Kirkpatrick.
Much of pratt’s personal life is a mystery as the one on one actress mostly keeps things under the radar, however, fans had a good look inside her domestic dynamic with Danny and their three daughters with the short-lived reality series, Black Ink Crew: Compton, a VHI show that chronicled Kirkpatrick and other African American tattoo artists’ daily operations at their studios.
The Proud Family actress and her beau have been engaged since 2011. Pratt's fans were first concerned over the duo's long engagement, but at this point, everyone is convinced that the long-awaited Pratt + Kirkpatrick wedding may or may not happened at all. "We're going to get married when we feel like it," the Call Me Kat actress had once said.
Comparing the institute of marriage to a societal formality, Pratt says, "as far as getting married. I was having a conversation with someone recently, and I reminded them, 'There's a lot of pressure that comes with that piece of paper."
Pratt and Kirkpatrick welcomed their firstborn in November 2010, almost a year before their engagement in 2011. The enduring couple has since expanded their family by welcoming one more daughter.
Get to Know Kyla Pratt's Partner and Baby Daddy, Danny Kirkpatrick!
Although better known as Kyla’s withstanding partner, there’s much more to Kirkpatrick than being a celebrity husband and a doting father. Kirkpatrick’s ink skill received much recognition when he starred in the VH1 show for two seasons.
As it turned out, the previously obscure tattoo artist had etched his artwork on some of the most famous names of Hollywood, including Diddy, Travis Scott, Nass, and Taraji P. Henson. In addition to his tat skills, Danny is also a rapper and has been actively working in the industry since 2005.
“I started doing music. I’ve always been a writer. Once I tapped into that I was heavy into writing songs. That’s like my therapy,” the Black Ink Crew Compton star once shared. Danny released his debut album, New Comp City, in 2015.
Kyla Pratt's Life as a Doting Mother!
From navigating the tricky journey of fame as a kid to efficiently balancing her work and personal life with three young daughters to raise, Pratt has indeed come a long way. The One on One actress welcomed her firstborn, Lyric, a year into her dating bliss with Danny in 2010.
Pratt described the early stage of motherhood as “hard” as her acting career was at its peak and becoming a mother demanded as much work at home. While most doting Hollywood parents are more often than not reluctant to encourage their kids choosing the same industry to work in, Pratt feels differently.
During a conversation on motherhood, Kyla dished on her daughters’ growing interest in films and acting, the mother of two said, “As long as they love it, as long as they have fun, I will support it."
Kyla and Danny welcomed their second daughter, Liyah, in August 2013. Liyah, according to the actress, is a younger version of Lyric, just as outgoing and with a penchant for acting. Aside from her two daughters with Kirkpatrick, the Proud Family actress is also a bonus mother to Danny’s son, Danny Jr., from his previous relationship.
