Leon Brown (previously Mariah Lian Brown) is the star of the reality television series Sister Wives and part of the brown family. They are the only biological child of the couple Kody Brown and Meri Brown. They were born on July 29, 1995, in Lehi, Utah, United States.

Leon is an American national who identifies as gay. They grew up in a large family with twenty-three family members as a result of their father's polygamy. They currently live in Utah with their fiance.

"I remember being in church, and they talked about how being gay was bad. But none of that came from my parents. It was from the church and the people I was around. One bishop told me gay people were selfish".

Leon had a hard time dealing with this. The pressure became the source of their anxiety and also caused them panic attacks. In an interview, she said:

"People say they try to 'pray away the gay,' but I wouldn't even let myself think the word. I just wouldn't go there", 

Transition From Mariah Brown To Leon Brown And The Use Of Pronouns

Leon was originally a woman named Mariah Brown. After they came out as a gay in 2017, they came out as a trans later in 2022. They changed their name to Leon and they also stated that they were fine with the name Leo.

In the same post that Leon came out as gay, they also announced that their pronouns are now they/them. And they would not tolerate others disrespecting their decision by referring to them by their old name and pronoun as they don't want to be restricted into being one gender over the other. They also warned that they would cut off ties with people who refuse to respect their decision.

Leon's father, Kody Brown gained his popularity after being cast for the Sister Wives for marrying four wives at the same time. Leon is the third child among all his 18 children.

According to sources, Leon attended Sheila Tarr Elementary School for her primary education. For her high school studies, they joined Centennial High School in Las Vegas, Nevada. 

After they graduated from high school, in 2013, they got enrolled in Westminster College. They graduated from college on May 13, 2017. Then they were studying social work at Loyola University in Chicago. 

The Reason Behind Leon Promoting Her College

Back when Leon was still in college and at Westminster, one of the students of the school told them that they would get tuition waivers if they promoted the school on their family's TV show. 

However, that was not the case and Leon never got tuition waivers.

Meri Brown & Kody Brown's Views On Leon Coming Out As A Trans

Meri Brown, the mother of Leon publicized her thoughts on Leon coming out as trans by making a response to this announcement. The post made by Leon to announce herself being a trans was shared by Meri in her Instagram stories with the caption,

You are my sunshine.

The lovely response only means that Meri accepts Leon's decision. However, it was other stepmothers of Leon who did the work to help Meri to accept the news. And their father, Kody Brown said: 

"I thought about this years ago, I made a decision. My job as a dad is to love and respect and not to judge. I'm just really, glad, [Leon], that you're comfortable owning your truth, and that you're safe with us!"

What Is The Show Sister Wives About?

The popular TLC drama Sister Wives is a show that shows the lives of Kody Brown, his four wives; Meri Brown, Janelle Brown, Christine Brown, and Robyn Brown, and his eighteen children. Although the show is quite controversial, it is also quite interesting. It was announced back in August 2010 that the Brown family would be the subject of the show.

The show, Sister Wives showed the polygamist lifestyle of Kody Brown. At the time of the show's release, polygamy was illegal in Utah. The show aired on 26 September 2010 and has released 17 seasons since then. 

Leon Brown's Fiance Audrey Kriss Is A Trans As Well

Leon is currently together with Audrey Kriss. The couple has been together since 2017 and got engaged in 2019. Leon and Audrey fell in love on the show when they both identified as women. The audience loved to watch their relationship grow into more than just simple attraction. 

Audrey Kriss is also transgender and also uses the pronouns they/them. They came out as a trans back in 2021 after leaving the show to live the life they wanted to pursue.

Leon stated that she knew that she wasn't a girl from the very beginning. But due to what society had expected of her, she had to keep up her feminine part and pretend to be girly all the while she turned into a woman.

In their social media, they admitted that their life was not together but they are taking steps towards learning who they are. They are keen to discover their true self by practicing the work on a daily basis.

According to sources, Leon is currently working as a program manager at Promise South Salt Lake. They are also a recreational assistant at William E. Christoffersen Salt Lake Veterans Home.
