Michael Baum was born on May 28th, 1962 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States. His parents are Mardell A. Baum (mother) and Richard L. Baum, Sr (father).

He went to secondary school at cherry slope school ease, where he was another pullover state secondary school swimmer for a very long time. He graduated with a software engineering certificate from Drexel University and an MBA from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
