Mike McCarley

Mike McCarley, often hailed as "one of the most powerful people in golf," is an American media executive and President of Golf for the NBC Sports Group.

McCarley is responsible for looking after all the NBC Sports Group's golf-related activities and contents, including all of the coverage broadcast on NBC, Golf Channel Digital, GolfNow, and the portfolio of lifestyle brands of Golf.

Mike McCarley's mother's name is Mickey Meacham McCarley. His father's name is not known. He has a brother named Brad McCarley, who is the owner of City Block Salumeria.

Mike hails from Memphis, Tennessee, and his mother and brother still live there. Also, the executive completed his high school in Memphis before joining the University of Arizona.

Mike McCarley Wife and Kids

Mike McCarley is happily married to brand strategist Amy Giering. The couple first met in New York City through a mutual friend. Since the first meeting, the couple began to have feelings towards one another. However, they did not start dating until they meet the second time around at a Halloween party six months later.

McCarley and Amy dated for one and half years before the Memphis native proposed to her. After the engagement, the couple went to a resort in Mexico for celebration. Two months later, the couple was back in the same resort in Mexico, this time for their destination wedding.

As of now, there are no news of trouble in McCarley and his wife's marriage. The happy couple is based in Orlando, Florida, with their four kids, two daughters and two sons.

Mike McCarley's Professional Career

McCarley joined NBC Sports Group in 2000 as communications director for its Olympic division. After he successfully increased the television audience of events such as the Olympics, NFL, and NHL in the network, he was promoted to senior vice president, strategic marketing, promotion, and communications. In this position, he oversaw all NBC Sports advertising and promotions.

In February 2011, McCarley was announced as President of  Golf Channel. During his leadership, the channel became the fastest-growing network on U.S. television among networks. 

Is Mike McCarley Leaving NBC?

In February 2021, it was announced that Mike McCarley is leaving NBC Sports after nearly two decades. He will depart from the company in the Spring of 2021.

McCarley himself has not talked about the reason behind the decision. Still, it is speculated that he made the decision after the company moved the Golf Channel's operations from Orlando to Stamford, Connecticut and many employees lost jobs.
