Mischa Richter was a happily married man. He tied the knot with his wife, Helen Sinclair Annand (painter), Barnet's sister-in-law. The late couple met through Will in the 1930s. It was love at the first sign for Richter. 

Then for some months, the duo dated each other and eventually got hitched in 1934. They then relocated to Provincetown, Massachusetts, in 1958. During the 1950s and 1960s, they travelled extensively in France and Italy. 

From their marriage, Mischa and Helen as a husband and wife, welcomed two children, Tom Richter and Daniel Richter (born in June 1939). But sadly, Tom died at an early age whereas Daniel is alive and is an actor and author.

The American cartoon artist lived a happy life with his wife and son, Daniel, until the death of Helen in 1992. His wife, Helen died of multiple sclerosis after a lengthy struggle.

Mischa Richter was born on August 12, 1910, Kharkiv, Ukraine. By profession, his father was a City's Commissar of waterworks. Furthermore, he had not shared his parent's identity. Similarly, after his uncle (a member of the Red Army) passed away in 1917, Mischa and his family migrated to the United States and arrived in 1922.

Besides this, Richter went to Boston's Museum School and later graduated from Yale University of Fine Arts in 1934. He met Will Barnet while attending the Museum School in Boston, who became his lifelong friend.
