On September 25, 2011, Stanger made some controversial remarks during a taping of Watch What Happens Live by Andy Cohen.
A gay man asked about a long-distance open relationship. Stanger explained that she meant he was not queeny. Also, she made comments about Jewish men and smart women that viewers and critics found offensive. Afterward, her comments drew a lot of angry responses on Twitter. Stanger tweeted an apology.
