Riley Keough is happily married to Ben Smith-Peterson: Everything to know here!
Best known for her roles in The Runaways, The Good Doctor, Magic Mike, Mad Max: Fury Road, War Pony, and Daisy Jones & the Six, Riley Keough is an Emmy-nominated actress. Her stellar acting career aside, Keough is also known as the eldest daughter of Lisa Marie Presley and the grandchild of legendary singer, Elvis Presley.
Born to Lisa and her first ex-husband, Danny Keough, on May 29, 1989, in Santa Monica, California, Riley has three half-siblings from her famous mother's many marriages. Being the oldest of the Presley brood, Riley ventured into showbiz at a young age and has pretty much remained a fixated name in the headlines.
Riley Keough and Ben Smith-Peterson: Through Thick and Thin!
Riley Keough and Ben Smith-Peterson are one of the rare successful cases of a whirlwind romance. In an industry infested by hasty and repenting lovers, Keough and Peterson have proved that not every fast-paced relationship has to go downhill. The Magic Mike actress first met Ben, who is a stuntman, on the set of Mad Max: Fury Road.
The duo's whirlwind trip began when the film's small crew jetted off to Australia for some re-shoots, and it was there in the land down under, that Keough felt the connection with Peterson. The Good Doctor actress had only dated Ben for two weeks when she had a sweet epiphany.
"I could see myself having kids with this person. It was kind of like I knew I was meeting my husband. It was very cool," the actress recalled. The duo's seemingly predestined connection wasn't just in their heads as several insiders called them the perfect match.
"It was just a matter of time until they made it official," a source said after the couple announced their engagement in August 2014. Although the loved-up pair kept it low, it turned out Riley and Ben were not just connected via work, but also by their joint philanthropic venture.
The pair's first unofficial, but certainly more special wedding took place in Nepal, where the duo was building a school in 2014. In her Vogue Australia essay, the actress recounts how a kind Nepalese family threw a traditional wedding for them. "It was so beautiful and, in some ways, that wedding was a little more intimate and really special," Riley wrote.
Keough and Peterson held their official wedding on February 4, 2015, in Napa Valley, California. The couple has since navigated some tough times. Peterson credited his wife for being his rock when he underwent hip surgery in 2019.
Ben was there for his wife when Riley faced immense pain after her brother, Benjamin Storm Keough, died by suicide in July 2020, and when her mother, Lisa, died earlier this year. The actress recently remembered her late brother. "Not an hour goes by where I don't think of you and miss you," Riley wrote alongside a picture of herself and the late Benjamin.
Get to Know Riley Keough's Husband and Kids!
The Mad Max actress often gushes about her husband and has posted countless tributes to Ben, who is an Australian stuntman. What many don't know is that Peterson is also an actor, with credits in Spark and Light, where he co-starred with Riley. Ben is gearing up to star in the upcoming film, The Dead Thing.
Since their dreamy fairy-tale nuptial in 2015, the couple has welcomed one kid. The pair's daughter, whose name isn't revealed until now, was born in 2022. Riley and her husband had kept the good news wrapped for a long time and the Mad Max actress only confirmed it earlier this year.
"I've never talked about this in an interview. Do you want the exclusive? It's going to go viral," Riley said, adding, "I became a mother in 2022." Keough and her husband have adopted the protective parent approach and refuse to share anything about their newborn.
Riley's mother, Lisa Presley, died on January 12, 2023!
Justifying the duo's reticent, a source said, "Riley wanted to keep the birth of her daughter private because she and her entire family is so public in every other way." The insider also shared that the doting parents are open to the possibility of welcoming more kids in the near future.
Riley's beloved husband, Peterson, has also spoken as little as the actress about their daughter, said that he hopes to be a good father to his daughter during a memorial service for the late Lisa Presley. "I hope I can love my daughter the way you loved me, the way you loved my brother and my sisters," Ben said at his mum-in-law's service.
