Sarah Burton

A prominent name of the British fashion industry, Mrs. Sarah Jane Burton, is an English fashion designer. She is currently the creative director of fashion brand Alexander McQueen. Burton also gained massive fame after she designed Catherine Middleton's wedding dress. 

Sarah Burton was born as Sarah Jane Heard in 1974, in Macclesfield, Cheshire, England, where another fashion designer Pearl Lowe was born. Born to her English parents Anthony Heard and Diana Heard, Sarah also has four siblings. She is of White ethnicity and holds British nationality. 

Sarah Burton's Marital Life

Well, a known designer, Sarah, is a married woman. She exchanged her wedding vows with David Burton. The couple is together for a long time. Her husband, David, is a professional photographer and currently works as the director at The Handler Organization. He has over 16 years of experience in the commercial real estate field, and he graduated from the School of Visual Arts in 1986.

The couple shares three children from their weddings. Three of them are daughters, Romiley Burton (born in 2016) and the twin daughters Elizabeth Burton and Cecilia Burton (born in 2015). 

Fashion Career

With a keen interest in becoming a fashion designer since her early days. Sarah joined McQueen's company as her assistant soon after her graduation in 1997. 

Later, in 2000, Sarah began working as the Head of Womenswear. Meanwhile, she created exclusive dresses for famous figures such as Lady Gaga, Gwyneth Paltrow, Cate Blanchett, and Michelle Obama. 

McQueen's Death

In February 2010, McQueen passed away due to suicide. He hanged himself in his wardrobe and left a suicide note. Later, the owner of Gucci stated that the brand's products would not stop, and Sarah became the creative director.

When Sarah became the director, she was interviewed by Vogue. Burton was asked, You first took the helm of the brand in 2010, which was almost a decade ago. How did you feel at the time? Sarah replied, 

''Well, really, I was so lucky to work with Lee. I started to work with Lee in 1996, and I had this amazing time of my life. He was this incredible man, and I very much grew up with McQueen. I started when I was 21 and I continued until he died. It was all-encompassing; it was this magical place focused on storytelling and creativity, and very, very personal and like a family.''

The famous designer also received the Designer of the Year title at the British Fashion Awards on 28th November 2011. 

Breakthrough Career

The same year in September, Sarah displayed the first McQueen womenswear collection in Paris. The following year, she got an opportunity to design the wedding dress for Catherine Middleton for her marriage with Prince Williams.

Sarah, moreover, designed the dress for the maid of honor Pippa Middleton's clothing, as well as Kate Middleton's clothing too. Burton, one of the most famous works, includes the wedding dress of Serena Williams, who is an outstanding American tennis player.
