Sean is the first participant from New York State. Sean's claim to fame was inventing the Superpole 2000, a massively long fishing pole. When Richard Hatch was proved to be an accomplished fisherman, his invention became ineffective, duping Sean in the process. 

Sean became increasingly well-known for his alphabet voting approach, in which he cast his votes according to the alphabetical order of the participants' names. He subsequently stated that he chose to vote out members of the opposing Pagong tribe, whose names were alphabetically earlier than his tribe's, in a non-deliberate way.

Sean Kenniff was born in Massapequa in the state of New York. On November 27, 1969, he was born. His father worked as a fireman for the city of New York, while his mother stayed at home. 

Sean graduated from Massapequa High School and started his studies at the State University of New York at Binghamton the following autumn, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in biology.

While other students went to college for spring break, Sean remained behind to save money for medical school. New York Medical College was where he earned his M.D. He worked at the Long Island Jewish Medical Center for four years after graduation, the final year as Chief Resident.

Kenniff also participates in the Westbury Police Athletic League's boxing program.
Sean presently resides in the Carle Place neighborhood of New York City.
