Though Shea and her partner Syd have reached a milestone in their career, the start wasn't very motivating. They were just becoming parents when they took a great risk to start their designing firm, Studio McGee by quitting their jobs. 

However, they quickly ran out of their savings and went nearly bankrupt. They faced such financial troubles while chasing their dreams that they were selling things to make ends meet. They sold anything and everything that wasn't a necessity. 

Then, they moved from California to Utah in an effort to make it right. And they did. And their efforts landed them their own show, Dream House Makeover.

I look back and still can’t believe that we were so gutsy. The months leading up to that decision were filled with fear and uncertainty, but once we were fully committed to building our business, the fear disappeared and was replaced with a fire to chase our dream.
