Stevie Wonder was born as Stevland Hardaway Morris on May 13, 1950, in Saginaw, Michigan, U.S. Stevie was born to parents Calvin Judkins and songwriter Lula Mae Hardaway. Stevie is the third child of six children and he was born six weeks premature which resulted in a condition that made him blind.

When Wonder was four, his mother Lula divorced his father and moved with her children to Detroit, Michigan. Morris growing up played various instruments such as the piano, harmonica, drums, and bass. In 1961, at the age of 11, Stevie sang his own composition, "Lonely Boy" to Ronnie White of the Miracles. The name Little Stevie Wonder was given to him by producer Clarence Paul.
