Why Atsuko Remar's Husband Got Fired From Aliens?

In the 1986 Aliens film directed by James Cameroon, it was initially never really explained why the role of James Remar was replaced by Michael Biehn. His first explanation for leaving the role was that he had urgent matters.

However, he opened up more about the issue in 2014 and gave the real reason behind his firing from the role. As per Indiewire, Remar stated:

“I had a terrible drug problem, but I got through it. I had a great career and personal life, and messed it up with a terrible drug habit… I was initially cast as Corporal Hicks, and I was fired after a couple weeks of filming because I got busted for possession of drugs, and Michael Biehn replaced me.”

In the video, James Remar is shown as Corporal Hicks. It was the first shooting James Cameroon did with James Remar, but he was replaced by Michael Biehn upon the release. Even in the post-production stage, his face was replaced by Michael's face with the help of complex effects shot.

Because he was fired from the role, it also affected his relations with Walter Hill since he was the one who recommended Cameroon for the role. Later in the same interview, he went on to say:

“Walter Hill didn’t hire me again for twelve years. And I know why – because I made him look bad. Y’know, it was fucked up.”
