Bradley Whitford was born on October 10, 1959, in Madison, Wisconsin. He is the only of Genevieve Louie Smith and her husband, George Van Norman Whitford. His mother was a poet. He grew up in a Quaker household. After graduating from Madison East High School, He joined Wesleyan University and majored in English and Theatre.
