Cheryl Burton is an American journalist. She is working as a news anchor at ABC 7 Chicago (WLS-TV) located in Chicago, Illinois since 1992. Moreover, Cheryl anchored the station's 5 p.m and 10 p.m. newscast show alongside fellow journalist Alan Krashesky. Besides, she used to anchor for the 7 pm newscast on WCIU-TV with her co-anchor Hosea Sanders.

Cheryl Burton was born on December 25, 1962, in Chicago, Illinois, USA. However, we don't have much information about her parents' details right now. Nevertheless, the duo met for the first time when Cheryl was a Chicago Bears cheerleader and he was a sports news anchor. After dating for a severals, Jim proposed Cheryl with a diamond engagement ring on the Friday night before Super Bowl XX in New Orleans in 1985.

However, they remained as a husband and wife for nine years before taking a divorce. The exact reason behind their divorce is still under review. However, they didn't share any children from their marriage. As of now, her ex-husband has moved on his life and married to Lakesha Draine in 2011.

The 170 cm tall, Cheryl faced a controversy back in 2008. Moreover, she was punched on the face by a man while she was on her dinner breaks. She was hit by a 27 years-old man named Gregory Perdue. After, the incident, Burton suffered from headaches for several months. 

At that time, Perdue's lawyer said that he was mentally ill. Later, he wasn't found guilty, and the judge instead remanded Perdue to the state Department of Mental Health until April 2015. As of now, she is living rumors and controversy-free life.

Talking about her professional life, Cheryl started her career as a cheerleader for Chicago Bears for three seasons from 1983-1986. However, her career in broadcasting began from American children's television series, Romper Room, and later, she appeared as a contestant on Star Search. After that, she became the host of an hour-long cable TV show called Simply Elegant

However, she began her career as a co-anchor in 1989 in a nationally syndicated weekly series, MBR: The Minority Business Report at WGN-TV. Later, she joined WLS-TV in 1992 as a weekend co-anchor/news reporter. Back in 2003, she was promoted to 5 p.m weekday co-anchor and 10 p.m contributing anchor along with Ron Magers and Kathy Brocks. After, Kathy's retirement she is co-anchoring 10 p.m. show along with Alan Krashesky.
