Dennis Rodman has been married and divorced three times: Everything to know here!
Considered the best rebounding forward in NBA history, Dennis Rodman is a retired basketball player. Rodman's two-decade-long stellar NBA career was split between numerous teams, including the Detroit Pistons, San Antonio Spurs, Chicago Bulls, Los Angeles Lakers, and more. Since taking retirement from his playing career in 2006, Rodman has dabbled in and ventured into some unusual fields.
The NBA alum is mostly out of the news but in recent years, fans saw Dennis making Youtube vlogs, running an apparel company, and most recently, spearheading a pride parade in June. The Basketball Hall of Famer is back in the headlines as his daughter gears up to play for USWNT at the Women's World Cup.
The Truth About Dennis Rodman's Failed Marital Life!
When it comes to his personal life, Rodman doesn't have the most smooth record. The NBA alum has been married and divorced three times and has settled several sexual assault lawsuits. Rodman was married to his first wife, Annie Bakes, for only 82 days. The pair had delved into their marital life after having dated for five years.
Rodman and Bakes's short-lived nuptial resulted in the birth of their first daughter and as Dennis alleged, shaped his outlook on relationships for life. The Pistons alum realized that Bakes married him for monetary benefits and was cheating on him.
In his book, Bad As I Wanna Be, the athlete even went on a record to claim that the double-fold betrayal caused him massive heartbreak and that he also contemplated suicide. "There's a woman who supposedly loves you, and then all of a sudden she turns around and tries to take every dime you've got," Rodman wrote.
After his divorce from Bakes in 1992, the basketball legend started dating model Carmen Electra in 1998 and married her after a whirlwind romance. Rodman's second marriage was again a disaster as the NBA star filed an annulment after just nine days. The pair reconciled shortly after, only to call it quits for good in April 1999.
The pair's fleeting nuptials was covered in an episode of The Last Dance, which unveiled a few embarrassing moments, one where Electra claimed that she and Rodman had sex "all over" the Chicago Bulls' practice facility. Rodman jumped into another relationship, with Michelle Moyer, pretty fast.
The Basketball Hall of Famer started dating Moyer, a former television personality, in 1999, and welcomed two kids with her. The duo walked down the aisle with her on his 42nd birthday in 2003. After several failed attempts to work out their marriage, the pair finalized their divorce in 2012.
Who is Dennis Rodman Dating?
The basketball legend is dating model Yella Yella. The pair were first linked together in July 2022 when Dennis appeared in a clip Yella posted on Instagram. Despite their relatively new romance, Rodman is too far ahead in his feelings as he recently got Yella's face tatted- on his face.
Showing off his new ink addition on various social media platforms, including his new channel named, Dennis Rodman Yella Yella, the NBA legend asserted, "This is my last dance with a woman." In his statement to TMZ Sports, Rodman added, "I thank her for loving me the way I am, and that's why I did it for her."
Yella's reaction upon seeing her man raise the bar to a crazy level was, of course, glee, and adoration, but the singer says that she didn't want Rodman to do it. "I actually told him not to do it. I'm like, 'What are you doing?'" the model/singer told the outlet. But now that it's done, Yella has been incessantly posting her beau's sweet tribute to her.
Dennis Rodman as a Father to Three!
Rodman is a father to three kids, Alexis, 35, Dennis "D.J." Jr., 22, and daughter Trinity, 21. The NBA alum hasn't been the best father and he has no shame admitting it. Addressing his relationship with his kids, Rodman once lamented his pain for not being able to do the best for his children.
"It's hard for me. It's very hard for me to try to break out of that cycle," said the Chicago Bulls alum, who didn't have a dependable father figure growing up. Dennis shared that his "major demon" is convincing himself that he is a good father.
Rodman's oldest daughter, Alexis, who he shares with his ex-wife, had a strained relationship with the basketball player for years. During an appearance on The Oprah Winfrey Show, Rodman got emotional talking about his daughter. The father-daughter duo has since worked on their relationship and Rodman is now an active part of Alexis's life.
The NBA legend announced the birth of grandchild, Alexis's firstborn, in June 2017. "I can't believe I'm a grandfather," Rodman wrote. His second child, Dennis Jr., who he welcomed with Moyer, is following in his father's footsteps. Dennis Jr. started playing at Washington State University in Pullman, Washington, in 2019 and later transferred to play for the Trojans.
Rodman's youngest daughter, Trinity, 21, is the youngest goalscorer in league history!
Rodman's youngest, daughter Trinity, 21, is undoubtedly the star of the trio. Born to Dennis and Moyer in 2002, Trinity is a budding name in the soccer world. She kicked off her career in the National Women's Soccer League at just 18 and made history, becoming the youngest goalscorer.
Although she has credited Dennis for passing on the good genes, Trinity admits that she doesn't have the best relationship with her legendary father. The youngest-born Rodman is also set to play make her World Cup debut for the US Women’s National Team in New Zealand.
