Hugh Jackman's role as James "Jimmy" Howlett in the X-Men film series has rendered him with a global stardom. Keeping his commercial and bankable credibility aside, Jackman boasts a slew of credits under his belt that makes him a critically acclaimed star. Hugh's roles in Les Misérables, The Boy From Oz, Real Steel, and The Prestige have garnered him the most number of accolades.  

Born Hugh Michael Jackman on October 12, 1968, in Sydney, New South Wales, the actor is Australian and also holds British citizenship because of his English parents. Hugh's early exposure on the screen came with Correlli, 1996's musical Beauty and the Beast, Paperback Hero, and Law of the Land. But it is not Hugh's illustrious career that we are discussing today for it is his personal life that has been gaining traction among fans.   

Hugh Jackman and Deborra Lee Have Called It Quits After 27 Years!  

There have been many celebrity couples splits this year, including the most recent couple Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas, and Britney Spears and Sam Asghari, but the most shocking of all has to be Hugh Jackman and Deborra Lee, who have been married for over 27 years.   

As per insiders, the couple's marriage had just run its course and it was about time they moved on with their solo journeys. Jackman has always been a family man and even as he called it quits with Deborra, the actor assures that his dedication, and love for his family remain the same. Jackman was early in his acting career when he met Deborra on the sets of the Australian show, Correlli, in 1995. 

Lee, as opposed to the Australian-British actor, was way ahead in her career and much older, 13 years to be precise. Despite the initial feeling of embarrassment and the fear of coming off as unprofessional, Hugh eventually revealed his feelings to the leading lady.   

"I knew two weeks into meeting Deb that we were going to be together for the rest of our lives," said the actor in an interview. But as it turns out forever is a long time and marriage isn't an easy feat. The pair got engaged the same year they met and walked down the aisle a year later on April 11, 1996, at a church.  

Jackman and Lee's marriage couldn't have started on a more noble feat. They welcomed their first adopted kid, son Oscar, in 2000. "Our motivation behind adopting was, 'Where is the need?'" said the Academy-nominated actor. The duo's family was complete with the arrival of their second adopted kid, daughter Ava, in July 2005.

The couple has since shown all possible demonstrations of a happy conjugal life, be it by sharing frequent nostalgic posts, gushing about each other in interviews, and being the No.1 fan of one another. The former enduring couple reflected on their marriage and shared the secret to their bond in an interview in 2017.  

"We meditate together," said Hugh's wife, adding, "And sometimes we have friends over to do it, too. It's a lovely Sunday morning thing. Everyone comes over, and then we have breakfast." For the X-Men actor, as he explained previously, "Intimacy is the most important thing."   

It is no surprise that the pair's separation announcement has taken a legion of fans off-guard as the couple seemed stronger than ever while commemorating their 27th anniversary earlier this year. "I love you so much. Together we have created a beautiful family. And life," the Les Misérables actor penned in a post.

With Jackman's distinguished caliber as an A-list actor and Broadway star, it's hard to imagine that there was a time when Hugh's now-estranged wife, Deborra-Lee Furness, was a better-known star of the two. Looking at Deborra's professional trajectory, it wouldn't be wrong to assume that the actress's career took the back seat after she married Jackman.   

Furness is widely known as the wife of the X-Men star but back in her native, she was and has always been a big deal. Hugh hadn't even stepped into the glamour world of showbiz when Furness landed her breakthrough role in 1988's Shame.  

Some of her best-known credits are Crossover Dreams, Jenny Kissed Me, Angel Baby, Evil Angels, and Newsies. Despite being a lost name in films for the last decade, Deborra recently appeared in This Is Your Life: Rebecca Gibney, Studio 10, and Force of Nature: The Dry 2. In her decades-long career, Furness has also worked as a producer, director, and philanthropist.   

Furness shares two adopted kids with the Oscar-nominated actor. The duo's oldest, Oscar, 23, arrived in their life after they experienced disappointment in having a kid of their own, and adoption seemed like the next best option for the couple. Oscar is part Bosnian, a factor that the Wolverine star and Furness have always taken into consideration while parenting him.  

The estranged pair's daughter, Ava, 18, is of Mexican lineage. "My daughter has a Mexican lineage, so we've been to Mexico," Furness shared. The Oscar-nominated actor's kids aren't the best-recognized or flashy like other celebrity scions. Jackman has time and again asserted the right parenting style while raising his kids out of the spotlight.
