John Yoo

John Yoo, whose full name is John Choon Yoo, is a Korean-born American lawyer, law professor, author, and former government official. He is well known for writing the Abuse Memos, which gave a legal justification for detainee torture during the War on Terror.

The Korean-American lawyer was born on July 10, 1967, in Seoul, South Korea. He has kept his parent's identity a secret. Yoo moved to the United States with his family when he was a youngster. He grew up in Philadelphia.

Concerning his education, the son-in-law of Peter passed his higher education from Episcopal Academy in 1985. He then graduated from Harvard University with a major in History (A.B. summa cum laude) in 1989. 

Later, John passed with a Juris Doctor degree from Yale Law School in 1992. In 1993, the state of Pennsylvania allowed him to practice law.
