In April 2018, a Twitter account holder @Jamie_maz re-uploaded the tweets which were written in 2007 to 2009 on Reid's previous blog Reid Report. Regarding the position, The Nation also said it,
"us[ed] the trope of gay sex to mock politicians and journalists."
Following the critics and their statements, Joy apologized, citing posts was "insensitive, tone-deaf and dumb."
Reid's second post also received many criticisms, where she explained kissing between men as disgusting to straight people and declared she is against same-sex marriage.
