She started broadcasting for BBC areas and countries as a relief forecaster, eventually joining BBC East Midlands as one of their permanent weather team, before becoming the news anchor for lunchtime. 

On 13 August 2016, she started presenting on the BBC News Channel. In September, Burak became Inside Out East Midlands' primary presenter and the re-launched England edition, which is a weekly round-up of the country's three best reports. She is still an active News Reporter of BBC News
