Marion Brooks

National Emmy Award winner Marion Brooks is an American News Correspondent. She is best recognized as NBC 5 anchor at 11 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Additionally, she is a member of the prolific investigative team of the network. Brooks joined NBC5 in 1998, and previously she worked at a radio station, WGST.

Throughout her career, Brooks has presented news from different places such as Jacksonville, St. Louis, Atlanta, and Chicago. Brooks has received awards from Associated Press, Illinois Broadcast Association, National Mental Health Association, Chicago Association of Black Journalists, etc.

Brooks married Ruye Hawkins, an Orlando-based lawyer, on March 12, 2005. Their wedding ceremony took place on the flagstone deck of a large redwood house they rented for the occasion in Lake Tahoe, California.

For the ceremony, Brooks wore a slinky, silk Nicole Miller size two gown. Approximately 25 guests attended their union. However, Marion was the second wife of Hawkins.

Just two months after marriage, Brooks announced her pregnancy in May 2005. Their daughter, Brooks Hawkins, was born on June 2, 2006. Additionally, Marion has a stepdaughter named Sydney Hawkins from Ruye's previous marriage.

Reunion after 14 Years

In 2002, Hawkins' brother mentioned seeing Brooks on the NBC station, WMAQ in Chicago. Hawkins became curious and went to the station's website. He then messaged her writing: "I don't know if you remember me."

Hawkins reminded Brooks that he attended Morehouse College in Atlanta when she was at its sister school Spelman College. Brooks then responded: "Of Course I remember you. I'm glad things are going well."

At the time, Hawkins was going through a divorce, and his bond with Brooks began to blossom. Finally, after 14 years, the couple became husband and wife.

Are Marion and Ruye still married?

There is not enough evidence, but as per an article published in chicagotribune, Brooks was no longer married to Hawkins. A particular line stated, "Brooks, who is recently divorced," indicating that they separated in September 2010.

Marion was born in 1967 in Vancouver, British Columbia, but she grew up in Portland, Oregon. She was born to parents, Sam Brooks (father) and Margaret Brooks (mother). Marion belongs to African-American ethnicity.

Brooks graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in English from Spelman College. Further, she is also a member of the National Association of Black Journalists.
