Modern Family Actor Fred Willard Dead at 86! Celebrities Pay Tributes

One of the most loved actors of this generation, Fred Willard dies at the age of 86, on May 15, 2020. The actor is credited for his roles in shows like Best in Shows, This is Spinal Tap, Everybody Loves Raymond and Modern Family.

According to People Magazine, a close source confirmed that the actor passed away due to natural causes. Celebrities paid their respect for the comedic star who made everyone laugh. Along with stars, his daughter Hope Mulbarger also said,

"My father passed away very peacefully last night at the fantastic age of 86 years old. He kept moving, working and making us happy until the very end. We loved him so very much."

Actress Jamie Lee Curtis took to Instagram to quote a beautiful farewell message for Fred. Along with her, Willard's co-actor from Modern Family Jesse Tyler wrote that Fred is a true original and no one will ever come close to replacing his genius.

The actor died of old age just like his character in Modern Family, Frank who died of old age. Fred received an Emmy nomination for outstanding guest actor in comedy series in 2010. He was survived his one and only daughter, Son-in-law, and his grandson at the time of death.

Almost two years back, his wife Mary Lovell also passed away at the age of 71, on July 13, 2018. The couple exchanged wedding vows in a private ceremony in 1968.

Fred's rise to prominence came in 1977 after his big break in Fernwood 2 Night. Talking to The Hollywood Reporter, the actor said his life-changing role came in Christopher Guest's directorial debut Waiting for Guffman. In an interview, he said,

"That started to change e everything. I was thrilled to be working with people I worked with- Catherine O'Hara, Eugene Levy- I was such a fan of theirs, and Christopher Guest."

He, furthermore, went onto reprise his amazing roles in many other films and TV shows like Best in Show, For Your Consideration, A Mighty Wind, Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy, and Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle.
