Nancy Brinker is best known as the founder of The Promise Fund and Susan G. Komen, an organization named after her only sister, Susan. She even served as the United States Ambassador to Hungary from 2001 to 2003 and Chief of Protocol of the United States.

Nancy Brinker was born as Nancy Goodman Brinker on December 6, 1946, in Peoria, Illinois. She is among the two children born to Marvin L. and his wife, Eleanor (née Newman) Goodman. She had a sister named Susan. Her father worked as a commercial real-estate developer and her mother a homemaker. In 1968, she received a B.A. from the University of Illinois.
