Nancy Kacungira was born on 11 October 1986 in Tanzania to Ugandan parents. As of 2019, she is 32 years old. Kacungira holds Ugandan citizenship and ethnicity is not known. Concerning her education, she studied primary school at a small missionary school in Tanzania.
Kacungira initiated her journalism career as a radio presenter at Power FM In 2010 she co-founded Blu Flamingo; a digital media management company along with her older sister Seanice Kacungira. From 2012 to 2013, Nancy moved to TV at NTV Uganda as a news anchor and after in 2013 she moved to Kenya to work for KTN News Kenya as a Social Media Editor in late 2013.
After three months of training, Nancy went to the BBC and also returned to KTN News Kenya after the training. But she was later recruited at the BBC where on BBC World News she presents Focus on Africa (Mondays) and World Business Report. In 2016, with another Ugandan BBC presenter Alan Kasujja, Kacungira was one of the two moderators in the Ugandan presidential debate. She has also worked with Sophie Ikeny and admires the works of Philippa Thomas.
