Patti Clare was born on March 3, 1976, in Manchester, England. She expressed great interest in the performing arts during most of her young years, so she sought to develop her talents by joining local productions on stage.
Following graduation from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, Clare pursued a prolific career in theater that included playing Edith in a 2000 production of Noel Coward's Blithe Spirit at the Citizen's Theatre in Glasgow, and, five years later, as Mrs. Micawber in a stage play of David Copperfield at the West Yorkshire Playhouse.

Clare's luck changed in 2008 when she was cast for the role of Mary Taylor in the long-standing ITV soap opera Coronation Street. The role was only supposed to be for five episodes, but after she made such an impressively strong mark, blessed with comic timing, she was handed a new contract.
She has remained a popular face on Coronation Street since her return in January 2010.
