Patel is currently the Home Secretary in the UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson's government just like Akshata Murthy's spouse Rishi Sunak. In 2017, the duo was surrounded by some criticism after Priti paid her better half thousands of dollars to run her office.

The lovebirds first each other prior to their 2004 wedding ceremony. Both of them worked in PR and eventually falling in love. No details about their romantic affair are made public as of now.
Reportedly, the pair started dating but the precise time period they were boyfriend and girlfriend is not revealed. In 2004, however, the couple took their romance to the next level by exchanging wedding vows.

The complaints were filled three years ago before she took the position of Home Secretary. However, ex-ministers and current PM Boris Johnson also backed her up. The Controversy of Alex Sawyer's Payroll
Some three years back while Patel served as the Foreign Aid Minister, she came under heavy criticism of paying her husband Alex to run her office. On May 12, 2017, a report was published in The Daily Mail, Sawyer received a payment of $30,928 to manage his wife's office.
The criticism came after it was revealed that, Sawyer also worked as a Marketing consultant for Nasdaq and also as a Conservative Local Councillor. Reports suggest Priti paid her spouse by using her staffing allowance.
After such a controversy, the current Home Secretary stopped employing her better half at the time. Despite all the controversy some three years back, the couple is in a sound marital relationship.
